Biological sex is a label that you’re given at birth it is determined based on medical factors, including your hormones, chromosomes, and genitals. People are assigned male or female and this is what’s automatically put on their birth certificates.

We have put together a petition to the Presidential search committee to ask for a president who will stand for free speech and open inquiry. We hope the president will lead the way in allowing diverse viewpoints to be expressed without fear of reprisal.

Fox News aired a segment on gender-inclusive language in science, which sparked controversy. A student worker, Laura Lewis, criticized the exclusion of certain identities. She faced personal harassment as a result. We condemn these personal attacks without qualification.

Even though both of the petitions didn’t catch on, and even though most of the comments on social media supported Caroled, Carole no longer felt welcome on campus.
